Bloggers Who Make a Difference: Curvatude

Jaye, the founder of Curvatude, is someone I met in the blogging world years ago. We were supposed to work with The Everygirl in 2009-2010 era , on a Plus Fashion feature with Target. They didn't end up running the feature, but Jaye and I were introduced and quickly became buddies. Everything happens for a reason guys, remember that.

Fast forward to present day. Eloquii had a party for the launch of their new store at the Shops at Northbridge in Chicago, where I ran into Jaye again! After all these years, she's still the same sweet little lady that she has always been. I just love her to pieces. Get to know Jaye even better, if you don't already, I'm sure you will love her!

What is your favorite style, how would you describe your personal style?
I would describe my personal style as eclectic because I wear what I want, when I want. I love the self-expression that you can create with fashion. And for me dressing is really mood based, so one day I could be very colorful or another day I could be very dark. But no matter what, I try to have fun with fashion.

What are you thankful for?
Everything! I am so grateful literally for everything. I wake up every morning and the first thing that comes out of my mouth is a mantra gratitude. It sets the tone for my day. And when anyone asks me how I am doing I always say I am grateful because I truly am. The health challenges that I face just getting around daily are pretty substantial at times so for me every breath, every act of movement is a gift. So how could I not be grateful?

What does "POSITIVITY" mean to you?
One of the things I work on is seeing the “big picture” even in the mist of the minutia and the madness that might be surrounding it. So when I think of positivity I think of always looking for the good, looking to enhance something & contribute in ways that makes things better. I don't like to harp on negativity because what you feed grows.

Tell us what your blog is all about! We want to know YOU!
Curvatude is my web home. My original blog mission statement that I wrote way back on 1/7/2019 in a post titled "You Make the Rules", states that "Curvatude is not about bemoaning what you don't have but about celebrating what you do!" and in a nutshell, that is still why I blog. Because the whole purpose of me sharing my life, my observations & obsessions is in hopes of reminding women that we need to fully own our bodies, our lives & to live out loud.

Plus size trends that you are super excited about?!
I love so many trends but especially all the texture, velvet, sequins, embroidery. I am just so excited that we finally really get to play with them in plus sizes. And that we have so many brands that now realize that our bodies can rock trends and look bangin' in them.

Staple pieces in your collection, and why? (think of that sequin pencil skirt you cannot live without)
My faux fur pieces are top staples for me. I have faux fur coats, vests, scarves, all of that and I love it all. I also love my animal print & sequin pieces because I consider them basics and I wear them day or night. As I mentioned before, fashion should be fun, so I love playing with it.

Why do you LOVE Eloquii?
Because they allow me to tick all my fashion love boxes. They have become the plus size industry standard in so many ways. They are not afraid to bring the fashion. Everything that I mentioned I was excited about? They have.  And I really can not express in words how much I appreciate that. How much I love knowing that I have so many options for getting dressed. And ESPECIALLY because I can now walk into a store in my city and everything in it is for ME and women like me.

Best advise you can give to women for their future?
To stop playing small.  To listen to their intuition. To be grateful for every moment, good or bad, yes even the bad ones, because there are lessons to be learned there.

What are you known for/What do people say about you?
People love my hair, although it's store bought LOL...But I hear from people that they just like that I rock whatever I am wearing confidently. A lady stopped me on the street one day and said "hey aren't you Curvatude? I love your blog, I am wearing what I am today because you posted...." I love those moments.

What’s Important to you, and why do you want to share that with the world? Maybe this important part of you isn't something you talk about on social media?
It's important to me that women realize how important self-care is, in all its forms. I talk about these things often on my social media stories and I write about them also. But it is so vital to connect with yourself, care for yourself and love yourself. And the more you do it, the bigger and better your life becomes.

Come by the Eloquii Chicago Store on 12/16/17 from 1pm to 4pm and meet Jaye, get styled by her, or just give her a big ole hug!
