How to Style: Summer Couple Outfits

Hello HalfStackers! I hope everyone had a great 4th of July! Just like the 4th, if you have any event you are attending or any holiday that you are celebrating, having the perfect look is a must. In addition, if you are married, engaged, in a relationship, or dating in general, you will want your significant other to be styled, so both of your looks go together seamlessly. For anything you have planned this summer, I have five tips to help you style both of your looks, so you are the best dressed couple all summer long:

1. Choose a Focal Piece. Whether this piece is one you are wearing or your significant other is wearing, style your look around a single piece. I chose this blue, ruffled, one shoulder blouse and styled the rest of our looks around it to complement, instead of compete.

2. Be Playful. Have fun choosing your outfit and your S.O.'s by picking playful garments, like this boat shirt I styled for my fiance. Just be sure that you allow the rest of the looks to be more toned down, so they do not look overwhelming.

3. Pick a Vibe and Go with It. We wanted our 4th of July looks, which are pictured above, to be dressed-up casual, so I chose a dressy top and shoes for the both of us and then paired them with more casual bottoms like denim shorts for me and chinos for him.

4. Work with a Theme. Depending on what type of event you are going to, have a theme in mind. So, if you are going to a 1920s style wedding, a summer BBQ, or a family reunion have this theme or event in mind to help you dress accordingly. For example, if you have a family reunion planned and it's at a park, go for more bohemian and casual attire like a floral maxi dress and a short and casual button down combo.
