Stay Focused!

Something that is very difficult for me is focusing on tasks that need to get done. Instead of looking at each individual task and scratching it off my list when completed, I get easily overwhelmed because there's a lot that needs to get done. I decided to come up with a list of things that I do to help me get things done. Hopefully this helps when you need some motivation.

1. Calming Music. This might sound dumb but it really helps me. I like to put classical music on but the soft and soothing type of classical music. I also like to put instrumental piano pieces on just to clear my mind off of anything that may be distracting me. The key to this is instrumental music because when I play music that I know the words to, all I will do is sing and eventually dance and there goes my goals for the day.

2. Write It Down. This pretty much speaks for itself. Write anything that needs to be accomplished down and have it in sight so that it can be a reminder of what needs to be done.

3. Have a Snack. Before you get ready to crack down on that list of yours, make sure to have a snack. Why? Because if you're like me, then you know that if you don't snack before then you're going to keep stopping midway through your task and end up in the kitchen every five minutes. Then your excuse becomes that you were hungry.

Remind yourself that once you're done with whatever you have assigned for yourself for the day, you will feel relieved and less stressed out. It's a matter of taking control of your day and accomplishing the things that are hard to accomplish. I know if I don't get the dishes done and the laundry put away then I will have a hard time sleeping! So make time for you but also make time for those tasks on your to-do list.
