Billie Eilish at Lincoln Hall: Review

The teenage years can typically be summed up by the shared experience of awkwardness, insecurity, and tortuous journey of self-discovery. That, however, doesn't quite seem to be the case for Billie Eilish. The 16-year old singer-songwriter exudes confidence and seems to have it pretty well put together. And this definitely showed when she performed in front of a sold-out crowd at Chicago's Lincoln Hall.

Billie Eilish is a singer, lyricist, musician, and dancer, to name just a few of her talents. With only one EP and a few singles released, Billie has already garnered herself quite a large and dedicated fanbase. This definitely showed when you looked around at the many different faces at her Chicago show. The fans in the crowd ranged from teens and their parents to young adults and more. It's really not a surprise to see the how diverse her fanbase is as the maturity and complexity of her lyrics definitely go beyond her years.

While she has a fairly short discography, Billie was able to hold her own and put on a full and energetic set. Her setlist included most of her songs from her debut EP Don't Smile At Me as well as her singles "Six Feet Under" and "Bored." The intimate performance also featured a special solo performance by Billie's brother Finneas who performed "New Girl." Billie also performed an acoustic ukulele cover of Drake's "Hotline Bling" and did a soft rendition of her song "party favor."

She concluded the night with a soulful performance of her viral hit "Ocean Eyes" and "My Boy." Billie was quickly invited back onstage to perform her gritty and hard hitting song "Copycat." She ended the night after hugging her fans that were upfront.

Despite having quickly risen to fame, Billie is extremely down-to-earth. She thanks her fans for their endless support and encouragements, saying that she wouldn't be able to live out her dreams without them. From her tight hugs with fans to her earnest message of thanks in-between songs, it's no secret how much Billie values and appreciates her fans.

You can follow updates on Billie through her Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. And you can check out her powerful performance in-person when she's back in Chicago to perform at Lollapalooza this summer!
