How to Style: Shearling Jacket

It feels more and more like fall outside, even though it is the first full week of September. However, fall is always my favorite season for fashion, since there are many interesting jacket and coat styles.

One huge trend we are seeing for the fall is shearling. Shearling adds a warm touch, while looking super luxe. This shearling and fur coat from Tobi is the perfect way to add the trend to your wardrobe this fall. Below, I am featuring this jacket and how to style any shearling jacket for the fall:

1. Layer Over a Collared Blouse. If your jacket does not have a collar itself, try allowing one in a fall hue, such as this rose color, to stick out. This styling trick adds an unexpected element to the shearling.

2. Add Leather Pants. Leather pants are one of my absolute favorite pieces for the fall, since they are the perfect basic. Easily, you can add your shearling jacket to the pants for a contrast between hard and soft.

3. Play with Pattern. Shearling looks great when paired with prints like leopard. This combination reads ready for fall and is playful.

4. Be Picky About Proportions. Whether you are simply shopping for a shearling jacket or styling it, paying attention to proportion is key. If your jacket is oversized (as most shearling styles are), then be sure to wear fitted (not tight) silhouettes to balance your look.
