All of a sudden everyone wants a "valentine" to feel as though they have someone. For one day, all the single ladies no longer want to be called that. Which is fine, but while everyone hypes up the idea of love during Valentine's Day, I can say I experience love everyday. I experience it from those around me such as my husband, my family, my friends, my dog, etc. Love surrounds me at all times. I don't need to wait for a holiday to tell them that I love them. I do it when they least expect it or when they need it the most.
Love is a beautiful thing for us as humans. When you really break down what love really means it can be a bit daunting because it means that you lay down your desires and wants for the other person. There are several forms of love. We can love our friends which is different from loving our family which is different from loving our spouses which is different from loving God yet it's still called love. You don't need a valentine or a holiday to feel as though you need to be loved. The Bible says that God is love. (1 John 4:8) I want to encourage anyone that is single and doesn't have someone to spend valentine's day with. It's sad to know that we need a day to be romantic. It should be a constant with our loved ones. Don't beat yourself up, embrace the singleness and do something special for yourself or your close friends and family. Learn to truly love yourself and don't wait on Valentine's Day to express your love for someone. Love should be a constant.
