Fashion Events in Chicago

This week the students of fashion in Chicago's colleges are busy prepping for upcoming shows. The intensity of event planning, coupled with the madness of last minute construction details most likely has these talented young men and women on high alert. The Spring season always brings with it the air of creativity as local art schools such as Dominican, The School of the Art Institute Chicago and the Illinois Institute of Art Chicago and Schaumburg campuses showcase the senior collections of the next crop of fashion's rising stars in the Windy City.

This week The School of the Art Institute and The Illinois Institute of Art Chicago campus will be putting on their spring showcases. The Illinois Institute of Art's Spring Fashion show is taking place this Thursday May 7, 2014 from 7-9PM. The event will be held at Holiday Inn Mart Plaza - 250 W. Mart Center Drive downtown on the 14th floor in the Sauganash Ballroom. You will get a chance to see the latest in student design work as well sample the students culinary prowess at the student run Evolve Bistro with the purchase of a VIP ticket. General Admission is $10 and the VIP ticket which gets you into the VIP Reception at Evolve and preferred seating is $50. You can learn more here.

Friday caps off this week's fashion festivities with The School of the Art Institute's annual show at Chase Promenade near Millennium Park. The show is bound to create a buzz as the students have worked to create a show that combines multi-media art, fashion and music.  The next generation of daring designers will boldly define the future of fashion in a spectacular work of moving art. The show will be presented three times throughout the day, culminating with THE WALK—a fashion show gala benefit supporting student scholarships. This year THE WALK features THE DOLLS, a performance by renowned artist Claudia Hart, and honors Legend of Fashion Diane Pernet. You can learn more here and purchase tickets here.
