Emily Kinney at Virgin Hotels Chicago

The multi-talented Emily Kinney performed a free show at the Virgin Hotels Chicago on Sunday, May 17. The singer, who is well-known for her portrayal of the character Beth Greene on AMC's The Walking Dead, showed the audience a different side of her than the one we've only seen through the show.



Although the performance itself was brief, the singer was able to give a preview of her music and her persona as a singer. Emily is a very charming and engaging performer. In between her songs, she shared her personal stories which she said inspired certain songs on her album. Throughout her set, she spoke with the audience, welcoming them to sing and dance along. At one point of the show, Emily also revealed that she is a huge fan of the glockenspiel. She used the instrument for one of her songs and showed how great of an instrumentalist she is as well.

Emily also performed at Chicago's Schubas Tavern that night as a part of her This Is War Tour. Although I was not able to go to that show, I heard that the concert was amazing.

The Virgin Hotels Chicago was the perfect location for this small concert. Located at one of the upper level floors, the hotel has a secret speakeasy bar and stage. Though the small room had limited seating, it still had enough space for the audience to stand comfortably. The ceiling was adorned with low-lit lights which only added onto the intimate feel of the place and the concert. The audience truly experienced a special performance at the Virgin Hotels.
