Columbia College Takes Over South Loop for Manifest Urban Arts Fair

Manifest, Columbia College’s annual end of the year Urban Arts Fair filled the streets of the South Loop May 15th.  The all day event was kicked off with a parade lead my Columbia's neighbor Jones College Prep’s marching band. The parade culminated at the Great Convergence an explosion of students and puppets dancing across Wabash Avenue. This performance ushered the audience into the Main Stage in the Big Lot where American Sign Language students performed along side dance and music majors. The Main Stage continued throughout the day with dance performances, DJs and bands.



Outside the tent the Big Lot was teaming with activities from zip lining to screen printing to Columbia’s interpretation of paint ball. The entire college, many other buildings, parking lot and every little park on the campus had performances and exhibitions going on. In the Sculpture Garden visitors could be eaten by zombies in a screen test with the film department. All of Columbia's galleries were exhibiting work from the graduating class.



Not only were students performing and showing their work they were also running the show.  From volunteers passing out information and buttons to the students on walkie talkies managing the whole event. Students from Audio Arts and Engineering ran the musical performances including two of Chicago's own Saba Pivot and headlining act Twin Peaks on the Main Stage.
