The below products showcase the spring beauty trends that caught our eye as well as spring inspired products that range from lush grass shower gel to moisturizers that keep your skin balanced and even some hair products to add moisture back into your mane. Some of these products aren’t just great for you, but do some good for the world around you as well. Check out this weekend’s Beauty Beat Spring Edition below.
Lush Grass Shower Gel, Scrub & Stepping Stone
Lush is one of those brands that just makes you feel good. The aromas, the textures, the fact that their products are natural and handmade; all are great examples of why Lush is such an awesome product.
In 2007 the brand launched Charity Pot, a hand and body lotion that softens skin and warms hearts. 100% of the purchase price (every single penny minus taxes) goes into their Charity Pot fund, which is donated to environmental, humanitarian and animal rights charities.
Their focus on sustainability is quite clear in their packaging. Where they can, they make products into solid form so they can ditch the packaging and preservatives.
Nearly half of their products are naked. When they do use packaging, their goal is for it to be environmentally friendly. They work with suppliers to source 100% recycled pots and bottles, to reduce energy on bottle production and save bottles from landfills.
Their initiatives are honorable, but how good is their product? Well, it amazes me how a mood can instantly be lifted with scent during a shower. The clean smell of their grass shower gel and scrub was invigorating and soothing at the same time. The best way to kick start a morning, is with a quick shower where you can lather up with this refreshing antioxidant wheat grass shower gel. It literally smells like freshly mowed lawn on a spring morning. The wheatgrass juice helps to nourish dried skin and the scent follows you throughout the day.
The stepping stone leaves your feet feeling smooth and fresh. The lemon and lime oils deodorize and absorb odors. The fine sea salt helps to exfoliate the hard skin on your feet and it’s like you just received a luxury pedi right in your bathroom.
Korres Yogurt Moisturizer
Greek Yoghurt is one trend that seems to be holding strong this spring. It is not only a good addition to your diet, but also in your skincare routine to combat dry skin. Greek Yogurt is known for its ability to instantly soothe skin by delivering increased moisture. It has a ton of great vitamins and the Korres face cream has kept my skin balanced.
I had been battling breakouts over the last couple of months and was using medicated spot treatments that dried my skin. The Korres Greek Yoghurt Moisturizing Face Cream gave me the deep moisturizing that I needed to offset the dryness that the spot treatment was causing. It is enriched with vitamin E, olive oil concentrate, and macadamia nuts for antioxidant protection, and can be used every day as a part of your daily skincare routine (Available for $36 at Sephora.com).
Skin Vitamin Paks (HUM) – detox for skin
After a harsh winter, over indulgence and stress, my skin has been battling an ongoing war. These past few months, I have taken it upon myself to battle my skin problems from the inside out. Upping my hydration, choosing better and more nutritious meal options and a detox.
HUM has a vitamin pack that is meant for people just like me. People who are looking to get their bodies back in balance. The founders explained that after “having struggled with breakouts, gained unwanted pounds and finding ourselves ripped off by pseudo experts in vitamin stores, confused by the news, bored by outdated meal plans and lost in vitamin aisles (in NY to be precise), we decided to turn the nutrition market upside down and launch Hum.”
Hum’s mission is simple: to become the best beauty nutrition business in the world. They achieve this by connecting you with a free personal nutritionist, who will review your information to create your free personal profile and products that are rooted in science. Depending on your needs, the nutritionists suggest micro-nutrients that help you support your health & beauty goals. All this happens online and to make your life easier, we ship personalized vitamins, minerals and botanicals right to your doorstep.
The HUM products are gluten free and can be catered to the users specific needs. In this case I tried out the 21-day “cleanse to the rescue”. The program comes with 21 packets for 21 days and an easy to use manual. The packets combine botanicals such as: organic chlorella algae, bladderwrack kelp, beetroot and milk thistle to help detox your skin.
Overall, I saw a definite difference from when I started using the program 3 weeks prior. I believe it was the mixture of the vitamins and my conscious decisions to eat better (low carb, high protein) and to get my running back on track to help sweat out the toxins.
Mad Hippie
In my never ending search to find the best type of face wash, I came across mad hippie. Mad Hippie is all about natural skin care that works. The brand highlights how they are blending the “mad scientist” formulations with “hippie” natural mentality.
Cream cleansers are incredibly beneficial to those with dry skin. They can be extremely useful in replenishing moisture lost from the skin. These types of cleansers are soap free as soaps have the tendency to dry out the skin. Cream cleansers are gentle on the skin and only remove the dirt and dust along with any excess oil. All the necessary moisture and essential oils are retained.
The Mad Hippie cleanser does just that and leaves your skin feeling soft and bouncy to boot! The product boasts the ability to remove free radicals & impurities while moisturizing & healing. With formulas that combine antioxidants, peptides, bioavailable vitamins and alpha hydroxyl acids, the Mad Hippie collection helps fight signs of aging, including environmental and sun damage.
Vita Coco - Coconut Oil
Just like Shea, coconut is considered another one of the "super foods". Although it has saturated fat, it is a different kind of saturated fat and has medium chain fatty acids. Most of the fatty acids in people's every day diet are long-chain fatty acids. The medium-chain fatty acids in coconut oil are metabolized differently.

Korres Vanilla guava lotion
Another great product from Korres is the Body Butters line. These beautifully scented, creamy body butters that are enriched with shea butter and quince extract to soften, moisturize, and rejuvenate the skin. The vanilla guava scent brings you back to those warm evenings on the beach and is the perfect addition to your spring supply and is sure to work well into summer.
The sunflower, almond, and avocado oils found in the butters nourish and help to keep that spring in your skin and even out the texture. The line is available in seven scents: Basil Lemon, Fig, Japanese Rose, Jasmine, Yoghurt, Vanilla Guava and Guava at Sephora.com for $29.
Shea Butter Review – Shea Yeleen
Shea Yeleen's is another one of those brands that makes you feel as good inside as it does outside. Shea Yeleen promotes sustainable economic development in rural sub-Saharan Africa, empowers and trains women-owned shea butter cooperatives, and educates consumers in the U.S about natural beauty care products and fair trade. The proceeds from Shea Yeleen sales contribute to the living wages of the women who harvested the shea butter in their products.
Shea butter is what beauty pros consider a skin superfood. It comes from the seeds of the fruit of the Shea (Karite) tree and that is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F. It offers UV protection (it is SPF ~6) and provides the skin with essential fatty acids and the nutrients necessary for collagen production. Shea butter has been used in Africa and other countries for years to improve skin and hair.
The Shea Yaleen soaps and moisturizers do a great job of rejuvenating and hyrdrating the skin. The Shea butter soothes inflamed skin and is a great product to use on stretch marks. Keep in mind that authentic shea butter should have a slightly yellow or beige color to it.

Hair Mask – Topganic
Dry and unmanageable hair is a force to be reckoned with. Sometimes the best thing you can do outside of drinking more water is giving your locks some TLC. When exposed to the windy, harsh winter weather, your hair, just like your skin, undergoes several changes that disrupt the natural beauty of your hair, which may end up suffering breakage, dehydration, frustrating tangles and split ends, frizziness as well as loss of volume, luster and shine.
Now that we have escaped the winter, it is time to bring those locks back to life. A nurturing hair mask, enriched with Vitamin A, Argan oil and Jojoba oil is a spring essential. Topganic has a luxurious mask that replenishes your hair moisture level, nourishing the hair fiber with crucial vitamins. The Treat Hair Mask provides flexibility and softness for your hair, leaving you with a healthy shine.
I make it a point to use this product weekly. This is the perfect product for those of you with colored and chemically treated hair. Depending on your hair type, I wouldn’t suggest using this daily, but it is a great go to when your hair needs a little more moisture.

Most of the fatty acids in people's every day diet are long-chain fatty acids. The medium-chain fatty acids in coconut oil are metabolized differently.
They go straight to the liver from the digestive tract, where they are used as a quick source energy or turned into so-called ketone bodies, which can have therapeutic effects on brain disorders like epilepsy and Alzheimer’s. When coconut oil is digested, it also forms monolaurin. Both lauric acid and monolaurin can kill harmful pathogens like bacteria, viruses and fungi.
So, this past 6 months I've been replacing everyday oil with coconut oil. My go to brand has been vita coco. This is the kind of oil I can cook with and even moisturize my skin and condition my hair with. You can even add it to a smoothie for an extra kick of energy instead of coffee.
