The Jewelry Designer You Need to Know About: Rachael Ryen

With spring nearly coming to a close (even though it started like, today) and summer quickly approaching, it is just the time of year to look for beautiful, minimalist jewelry that won't be hidden under layers of clothing.  Rachael Ryen has just that.  Don't get me wrong when I say minimalist, she often uses bright stones, pave and dainty details to draw the eye in- proving that one does not need a giant beaded collar featuring large pave flowers to make a statement.  Floating somewhere between trendy and classic, Ryen has created the perfect pieces for anyone, no matter what their aesthetic may be.

One of my favorite more affordable pieces is the Baguette Bar necklace in gold.  Extremely delicate, versatile and stackable, this necklace is a great dress-it-up-or-down piece.  Featuring a row of baguette gemstones in a 14k gold over brass setting and an adjustable chain, this will be a stunning addition to your jewelry collection.  For only $98, it is a worthy investment.

When asked about what inspires her, Ryen states "I draw from my experiences, travels, and objects observed in day to day life. I'm particularly drawn to design aesthetics of the 40's and use elements in my designs."  And that shows.  Specifically, in pieces like the Hexagon Stud earrings in Lapis.  Her use of high contrast and vivid color are very now, but the large hexagonal shape is reminiscent of another time.  Featuring genuine semi-precious stones, a butterfly backing and a 14k gold overlay, for only $74.00, these could easily be your new go-to earrings.

Last but far from least, the Chevron Pave Ring in gold is a gorgeous statement ring that can literally go with any outfit.  Feeling right at home with an edgy leather ensemble or a feminine floral look, this piece is truly a crowd-pleaser.  This ring features pave details set in a 14k gold plated jeweler's metal and is currently available in a size 7 online.

Ryen's designs come in many different price points.  The above pieces were chosen especially for our readers because they're affordable, fashionable and versatile.  However, there are tons of options available on Rachael Ryen's site.  Also, there are two vendors here in Illinois to see the pieces in real life: Urban Flair in Barrington and Camden Boutique in Elmhurst.
