January Letter from the Editor

Hello Halfstackers -

Welcome to 2015. January is one of those months that just naturally brings with it renewal. It's a new year and people are making resolutions and starting off fresh. I'd like for you all to always remember you can start over. Each day brings with it the opportunity to begin refreshed and anew. We don't have to wait for a new year to start making positive changes in our lives and pushing ourselves into a new direction. I'm looking forward to this new year and I hope to continue to create positivity for myself rather than expect the new year to bring with it that positivity. The end of 2014 was a tough one for myself as well as close friends who lost loved ones around Christmas. The holidays brought with them some sadness, but I made it a point to see the beauty in each ending. The year itself was tough for my family.

Yet, I am a firm believer that we should not allow ourselves to become victims of circumstance.  We attract that which we put out. This year I am going to pray more and worry less and focus on personal and professional growth. I am planning on continuing to work hard, but still make time to enjoy life with my family rather than worry about the unknown. I am going to try to forgive more, allow myself moments to relax and smile more too.

This month on the blog, we are focusing on the theme of "new year, new you". Our writers will share some great stories as usual with a twist in this direction. We have some new team members starting this month and you will be hearing more about and from Denise (beauty and youtube) and Halee (Social Media/PR Intern) in the coming weeks.  This time of the year gets me excited and motivated as I get to plan out the creative direction of our year of issues for Halfstack. It's a time to push creative boundaries, plan, make to do lists and put my thinking cap on. It's a time of collaboration with all the creative people we have here at Halfstack and this year marks year 3 into this crazy journey. I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that has me a bit scared and excited about this year. I don't know what it has in store for this indie publication, but I am hoping for beauty, growth and more opportunities to share amazing stories.

Thank you for being a part of these moments readers and thank you for supporting the individuals who put love and energy into this publication.
