When my Editor, Jenny, came to me with one particular story for the Fall issue, which was to feature a woman named Dahna Bender... A philanthropist, fighting for the rights of animals; I jumped at the opportunity to do the feature myself!
Dahna Bender is a Long Island resident with a beautiful singing voice who has decided to leverage her 'gift' as a means to raise funding and awareness for a nonprofit organization in Colorado... The National Mill Dog Rescue; an organization who's mission is to rescue as many 'puppy mill' dogs as possible.
For those of you unfamiliar, commercial dog breeding is a nasty business. It is inhumane, torturous and worst of all, legal! And Dahna Bender has put together an album loaded with all of our favorite Christmas tunes in which all of the profits will go to the efforts of the National Mill Dog Rescue!
It truly was a pleasure and an eye-opening experience connecting with Dahna and learning about what it truly means to be a commercial breeding animal.
In this coming Fall Issue of Halfstack Magazine, set to release on September 17th, I take you on an educational journey in hopes to enlighten you to the treatment of animals at the hands of 'puppy mills; and the story of one woman's mission to bring about change.
Be sure to check back on September 17th for the live issue and full article, featuring Dahna Bender and her philanthropic cause!
Thanks!
